FLU VACCINATIONS

We now have our flu vaccinations in stock. At present we are able to offer appointments to all patients over 65 years old, and patients who fit the NHS high risk categories. Please contact reception to see if you are eligible.

URGENT NOTIFICATION

UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS A NATIONAL PROBLEM WITH THE CHEMICALS USED BY LABORATORIES WHEN TESTING BLOOD SAMPLES.

SO, WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED TO PAUSE ROUTINE TESTING OF BLOOD SAMPLES.  WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN A NORMAL SERVICE WILL RESUME.

REGRETTABLY WE WILL HAVE TO CONTACT MANY PATIENTS TO CANCEL THEIR BLOOD TEST APPOINTMENTS.  WE RECOGNISE THIS WILL CAUSE FRUSTRATION AND ANXIETY AND APOLOGISE FOR THIS BUT THIS SITUATION IS COMPLETELY OUTSIDE THE PRACTICE'S CONTROL.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS LOOKING INTO THIS AND WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ONCE WE HAVE MORE INFORMATION.

PATIENTS WHO REQUIRE URGENT BLOOD TESTS WILL BE PRIORITISED BY THE CLINICAL TEAM.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AT THIS TIME.

Zero Tolerance

We operate a Zero Tolerance Policy with regard to abuse or violence towards our staff. We reserve the right to remove abusive or violent patients from the Practice List.

Nurses Clinics

You may make an appointment to see our practice nurse at either surgery.

The Practice Nurse clinics cover travel vaccinations, ear syringing, immunisations, dressings, wound and ulcer management, smears and contraceptive advice. This list is not exhaustive, and some appointments need to be arranged with a specialised Nurse; if you are unsure who you need to see, please ask a receptionist who will be happy to advise.

Please make an appointment as soon as you know your travel dates - don't leave it until the last minute or you put yourself at risk.

Phlebotomy - Blood Test

A phlebotomy clinic is held everyday by our Healthcare Assistants.

COPD/Asthma Appointments

These are run at both ends of the practice by appointment with the nurse.

Medicals

Patients requiring medicals will usually be seen outside surgery hours so please mention the nature of the medical when booking.  You may be asked for a deposit towards the cost of medical in advance of your appointment.

Minor Surgeries

Minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetics are performed in the surgery by appointment.

Diabetic Appointments

This is run at both surgeries by appointment with the nurse.

Maternity Clinic

Antenatal clinics are run at both surgeries by the community midwife.  The doctors see antenatal patients in their normal surgeries.  Postnatal appointments take longer than usual and you should mention this when making an appointment.

Babies

Baby immunisations are undertaken by the Practice Nurse during her routine clinics.

Smoking Cessation

This is run at both surgeries by our HCAs.

Note: Under COVID conditions these appointments are exclusively performed by telephone.

Attached Staff

The practice has a full compliment of community staff such as district nurses, health visitors and midwife.

The district nurse can be contacted directly by an answering machine on 01522 685786.  Messages are collected regularly during the day.  This service is designed for rountine messages and not an emergency service.
