Extended opening hours available to patients

Cliff Villages Medical Practice is pleased to announce that from 1st September 2018 patients will be able to book routine appointments on Saturday and Sunday mornings and weekday evenings until 8pm.  These will be delivered from a range of local practices.

The revised service is part of an extended access service which has been commissioned by NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group.

The appointments will also be available on bank holidays and across the Easter, Christmas and New Year periods.

Extended hours appointments are for pre-bookable non-urgent appointments. Examples of these include chronic illness and medicines reviews.

The service is being delivered by a federation of GP practices in the area. If a patient wishes to attend an extended hours appointment, they may need to travel to another local GP practice and may not necessarily see their own GP.

In our locality, appointments are available between 6.30pm and 8pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There are also a number of additional appointments being made available during core hours (8.00am to 6.30pm Monday – Friday)

To arrange an appointment or for more information on when and where appointments are available, speak to the practice receptionist.

Important Notice

With effect from the 1st August, the Practice will only have 3 Doctors working the equivalent of 2 ¾ time.
We have gone from 5 doctors to 3 in a matter of 6 months and despite every effort to recruit additional GPs, we have been unsuccessful.
We will continue in our search but in the meantime, the way that we offer appointments will have to change.
We find ourselves in the unprecedented position where some days we only have one GP on duty, you will, therefore, in the first instance, be offered an appointment with another fully qualified member of the team. Please be assured that if a Doctor’s intervention or advice is required, there will be one in the building but clearly, one Doctor cannot see everyone.
We will still be operating our triage system in the mornings between 8 and 10 am where the triaging clinician will best assess your needs and, if required, book the appropriate appointment for you.
We ask for your understanding at this very difficult time. There are Practices in the area who are finding themselves in an equally if not worse position and there are some that have simply closed down.
We clearly do not want to be in that position and with your help and understanding, feel that we can weather this storm but not without significantly changing the way in which we work.
